I made my pieces because of my love of water. I love how it shows how all life needs water. Water can be in many forms of ice to liquid. Water can look different for where you are in the world. I hand built penguins because I love them and one of my favorite movies is Happy Feet. I balled up clay and used slip to put their bodies together. I made an Igloo by throwing a bowl on the wheel and then carving the details and texture onto the surface. I then used a translucent glaze called Ice to help represent the winter aspect with my penguins. To make my bowls and plates I used the wheel then bisque fired them, then at the end dipped all of them into a mottled blue glaze. I did the blue to bring my pieces back to the water theme and have a similar theme throughout my work. In conclusion I am proud of all my bowls and penguins I accomplished in my first semester of ceramics.
